Director, IFS Wealth & Pensions

London School of Economics graduate Alan Chan is the first of two brothers to make the Top 35 this year. The 32-year-old has been a regulated financial adviser for 10 years, achieving chartered status for himself and the five-person firm.

IFS Wealth & Pensions, based in London, turned five years old in September and is going from strength to strength. The firm has struck a significant deal in the shape of an agreement to provide insurance advice services (such as critical illness cover and life insurance) to members of a large trade union. This has helped the company double its turnover over the past 12 months.

When he is not at work or looking after his twins, Chan is a keen badminton player.
